Questions from the chair

Atelier du Rasoir is a men's barbershop in central Lyon. We keep the room calm, the tools sharp, and the conversation optional. Below is the practical spine of how a visit works — from first cut to walk-out finish.

We favour classic French barber craft: scissor-over-comb structure, clipper fades that respect your hairline, and hot-towel straight-razor shaves when you want the full ritual. Walk-ins are welcome when a chair is free; appointments keep the rhythm steady on busy Saturdays.

What kind of cuts do you offer?

Short classic cuts, textured crops, scissor finishes, skin and mid fades, beard lining, and full hot-towel shaves. Every visit starts with a brief consult so the shape matches how you wear your days — office, studio, or weekend.

Do I need an appointment?

Not always. Tuesday through Friday mornings are often open for walk-ins. Afternoons and Saturdays fill faster — use the contact form or call +33 4 78 42 6193 to reserve a chair. We hold bookings for fifteen minutes past the agreed time.

How long does a visit take?

A standard cut runs about thirty-five to forty-five minutes. A cut and beard tidy sits near an hour. A full hot-towel shave with aftercare is closer to fifty minutes. We do not rush the rinse or the final check in the mirror.

Where are you on Rue de la République?

Number 18, in the 2nd arrondissement — a short walk from Bellecour and Cordeliers. Look for the warm shop window and the quiet chairs behind glass. Métro lines A and D put you within a few minutes on foot.

What should I bring or expect?

Come with clean dry or lightly damp hair when you can. Tell us about cowlicks, sensitive skin, or any product you already like. We keep a small range of pomades and balms on the oak shelf if you want a take-home finish after the cut.

Is this shop only for men?

We specialise in men's grooming silhouettes and beard work. Guests of any gender seeking that craft are welcome — we simply keep the menu focused on barber cuts rather than colour or chemical services.
